Glossybox - January 2012

Over the last 6 months beauty boxes have been taking the beauty community by storm.  There are various companies offering similar boxes but the one I am subscribed to (and have been since September 2011) is Glossybox.

Have you heard of Glossybox?

It's a monthly subscription where you receive 5 or 6 luxury product miniatures (some of which may be full size) from high-end brands every month.  You just register to create an account and subscribe to receive your first Glossybox.  The box is sent directly to your door every month and will allow you to test out new products in the comfort of your own home. You can also provide product feedback in order to receive Glossydots which you can collect in order to claim a free box.  The box also contains product information, application notes and tips and tricks about beauty and style. It gives you the chance to try new perfumes, make up, body and care products of high-end and niche brands some of which you may not have heard of or tried otherwise.  The beauty box costs £10.00 per month (plus p+p).

The Box..

Each box comes beautifully packaged each month and carries the Glossybox logo.

The traditional boxes are a pale pink and black in appearance, however they have limited addition boxes to represent certain occasions.  For example the December box was glossy red and black to represent the Christmas season and this months much awaited box was advertising Valentines day.  Imagine my surprise when I opened the packaging to reveal a bright hot pink box - very excited!

Within each box there is a card that reveals information about each of the products in your box as well as the pricing for a full sized product and website addresses for where the products can be purchased.  It also reveals any discount codes or promotions that are offered if you purchase one of the products.

Each box is packaged to a high standard which makes the experience even more special when you open it.

So, what's inside this months box?

1. Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner (Full sized product) in Midnight Blue £9.50:  Not really a colour that I would normally use (I'd have preferred Black or even Brown) this eyeliner has a very creamy consistency when applied.  It also has a handle attached to the eyeliner to allow for the entire product to be used unlike regular eyeliners.  It is advertised as offering precise definition and an intense colour with a long-lasting finish.

2. Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream £48 / 50ml:  Advertised as being an innovative night cream that not only addresses skin renewal and firmness, but also helps to slow the ageing process with neuro-immune protection.

3. Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream £46.50 / 50ml:  Designed to infuse skin with firming benefits that are immediate and long-lasting.

4. FAB Body Moisturiser £13/ 237g: Formulated with ingredients to nourish and restore, it is designed to improve the skin barrier function and lock in moisture after bathing.  It is allergy-tested, fragrance free, dermatologist recommended and contains no harsh chemicals.  It is also safe for sensitive skin.  Personally I like moisturisers that are have a fragrance but I shall give this a try nevertheless.

5. Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer - Dewy Finish £29 / 30ml: An oil-free primer which ignites a radiant glow, powered by light-enhancing minerals.  Sounds exciting and exactly what I look for in a primer.  As my primer is almost run out, I shall definitely be trying this one.

My initial impression....

Seeing as though this box was a Valentines Day edition and had been publicised throughout January, I have to admit that I was rather underwhelmed.  With so much potential available for an exciting Valentines box I was rather disappointed about the products included unlike the Christmas box which I really enjoyed.

I'm not going to review the products just yet as I have only just received them and I haven't had the chance to test them properly.  If you would like to see a review for any of these products then please leave a comment below.

I'm hoping that next months box will be a tad more exciting.  But that's why I like receiving a beauty box, as you never know what you're going to get.  I'm currently debating whether or not to try another beauty box for comparison...any recommendations?  Maybe I will, you'll just have to wait and see!
